Choosing a large wooden ball
Every size here is a solid wood sphere, with no veneer and no hollow core, turned to order. Start with the table above: each row is a diameter, each column is a wood, and each price is for one fully round ball with its weight underneath.
The size chart lists every diameter in centimetres, inches and millimetres with its weight, and the size and price tool will price a size that is not here.
Pine is the lightest and the most affordable, and it takes paint evenly. Oak is hard and strongly grained and suits oil or stain. African walnut is dark and needs only oil. If you are not sure, start with the smaller size: the range steps one centimetre at a time, so the next one is never far away.
A ball can be a foot, a finial, a centrepiece or a prop. Choose the shape that fits the job, and ask for a bespoke quote if you need a hole bored a particular way.
Dispatch for every ball from 10 to 34 cm: Made to order, dispatched in 2 to 4 weeks. Tracked and insured. The rate for your country shows at checkout; import duty and VAT outside the UK are paid to the carrier on delivery.
A whole ball from 10 to 34 cm is turned to order on our own lathe.
A ball of 35 to 45 cm is made as two halves turned on our own lathe, then bonded and trued.
Questions
